An Iconic Shield, Crafted for a Global Stage
Precision engineering, traditional metalwork and specialist finishing | 2018–2023
Some props need little introduction. Between 2018 and 2023, we produced a series of Captain America shields for live entertainment at international theme park destinations—from Paris to Florida, California and Tokyo.
Bringing that familiar silhouette into the real world required careful attention to shape, construction and finish. Each shield combined digital design with specialist metalworking and hand-finished details.
From CAD to formed metal
We designed the shield base in SOLIDWORKS, establishing the geometry before the metal shells were professionally spun to create their distinctive circular profile.
A custom laser-cut rear frame was then formed by hand and bonded to the back of each shield. This brought the engineered components together with the practical craftsmanship needed to realise the finished piece.
Bespoke leatherwork
The rear assemblies featured custom leatherwork produced by our colleague Debora Di Meo in Italy. Her work added another layer of craft to a prop whose reverse deserved the same care and attention as its recognisable front.
A finish worthy of the spotlight
The shields received a professionally applied 2K automotive tint finish, giving the surface its rich colour and allowing the character of the metal beneath to remain part of the finished appearance.
Across five years and four international destinations, this project brought together CAD, metal spinning, laser cutting, hand forming, leatherwork and automotive finishing to recreate one of the most recognisable props in popular culture.
