A Familiar Face from a Distant Galaxy
Digital design for manufacture | Theme park entertainment
We were commissioned to develop a digital design for an iconic droid head, destined for a science-fiction themed area of a well-known theme park.
The project called for a recognisable screen design to be translated into a practical, manufacturable form, capturing the distinctive silhouette, proportions and mechanical details that give the character its personality.
Designed for manufacture
Working in Fusion 360, we developed the head as a digital model with its physical production in mind. The design balanced the character’s familiar appearance with the practical requirements of turning CAD geometry into a finished prop.
From digital design to physical production
Our role centred on the digital design and preparation for manufacture. The completed model was handed over to a local production team, who undertook fabrication and finishing on site.
The project demonstrates how our engineering and prop-making experience informs our digital work: understanding how an object will be made helps shape the design from the outset.
